Super rare Robby Roulette Bank. I think this
was a give-away premium. Thanks to Jay
Brotter for getting this for me in Japan.
Check it out.Black D-Cell Robby, Silver D-Cell Robby, Black C-Cell
Robby, Silver C-Cell Robby. I only know of one other collector with both
black and silver examples of both the C and D Celled versions of this
Robot. Now this is what I call a GANG OF FOUR!!!
Rare Salesman's Samples of Chinese Robby Tank by
Bejiing Toy Co. Purple/Red version is from the Boogaert's
Book and the all Blue version came from Italy. Note rare
English version box. Usually this is in Chinese.
You really need to see these original shorty
C-Celled Robby robots to appreciate the beauty of
proportion and design in this robot! I had found my
black one first, but this was my Holy Grail for almost
10 years of searching!
Salesman's sample of Space Trooper in silver/black.
Only one of two known. Notice the deeper chest and
larger heart-box pressing. All the edges are rough with
sharp creases and deep folds in the pressing which tells
me the molds were not yet fully finished when this was
stamped. Thanks to Brian Stillman for helping to broker
this treasure into my collection.
Mechanical Moon Robot also known as Ribbon
Head Robby. Largest key-wound robot and has
multi-colored twisted metal ribbons under a pink
plastic dome with bright blue rubber hands and
ears. Just beautiful. With original rare box. Stands
about 10 inches tall.
Super rare blue & red Jupiter Robot wind-up version of
Robby. I've only seen one other many years ago in a
photograph of a collection from Europe. Has red plastic
winding key. I found this in a little toy shop in Santa
Margarita, Italy about 5 years ago while on vacation.
Mechanical Roby Robot Sparkling. Flat wrench
handed Robby in deep, deep blue. Same body
pressing as that used for Cone Head Robot.
There's also an astronaut version with a little
boys face under a huge tin helmet. Shown with
original box.
All three Robby driven space vehicles from the Griff sale.
Robby in Studebaker, Robot Space Car, and Space Car.
Better photos to follow shortly.....
Nice shot of C-Celled robot next to taller Osaka
Tin Toy Institute reproduction of Mechanized
Robot in red as depicted in original box artwork.
Silver D-Celled Robby next to baby brother the C-Celled
version. I really think the shorter legs make for such a
better looking robot. I used to think the arms were wrong
until I saw Brian Hayes' C-Celled in the book Vintage Toys
and saw his also didn't have maroon arms! Notice the
battery box doors in the legs are also indented on the
sides for that segmented look all-aound the leg. This detail
is only on the small C-Celled versions.
Good Old Mechanized Robot in vivid black. Second
generation (D-Cells) with round battery-door
latches. Shown with original box.
Robby Space Patrol. Lighter blue variation. MGM went
after Nomura for this one as it did say Robby on the box so
it was pulled out of production pretty fast. Mystery Action
with lighted wind-screens and single light under Robby's
dome.
Original box for Robby Space Patrol. I wish box
top sides were deeper with more artwork.
